T-shirt slogan
At the last meeting, we talked about putting a humorous linguisticky slogan on our new t-shirts for 08-09. Something akin to "Linguists never die, they just leave a trace" or "I wish I were an anaphor so I can be bound in your domain" but we'd ideally like to use something original. Think long and hard, post it here as a comment, then later this summer we'll vote. Go!

At NCA last fall, I heard a great joke: "How many conversation analysts does it take to screw in a light bulb? At least two, and each one has to take a turn." I thought it would be funny if one side of the shirt had various "how many (x kind of) linguists does it take to screw in a lightbulb" jokes, and then the other side had our logo and something like "PLA: Making Light of Linguistics Since 2005." But I can't think of any other good light bulb jokes, so any help would be appreciated.
Historical Linguists: Two--One to take out the old bulb and the other to figure out what wattage it was before it burned out.

Another, simpler slogan idea:
"If we were an aspectual marking, we would be pluperfect."
Not original, but still pretty funny. i think it came from Language Log, but it's also something we hear every time we introduce ourselves and our field:
You're a linguist? How many languages do you speak?
Or maybe the front of the shirt could just say, "No, I can't translate that for you."
when i talk about being a linguist people ask me:
"oh, are you going to work for the government?"
Linguists for green movement:
We plant trees, rescue endangered ghoti, and offer natural classes.
Make the present perfect.
i found sunny's last message very creative . perhaps, if it doesn't cost much, you may consider having variety of t-shirts (with different slogans). then, people may choose one of them and order, hopefully, more. my two cents.
